Holiday Inn bonus
Those who book to stay at the con may be able to get a nice bonus of a free night at any IC hotel from 3 Jul – 26 Dec for every 2 paid nights. In theory, this promo only works if you sign up for it before making bookings, but it appears that Priority Club's computer system is sometimes granting the free nights anyhow.

Mailing list
There's now a mailing list, for low-traffic chitchat about the convention. It's a bit old-skool, but that's how some of us roll. You can subscribe at http://lists.conjecture2009.org/listinfo.cgi/talk-conjecture2009.org

Art show
I'm wondering: juried art show yes/no? or sole-artist retrospective? or something else?

We have a somewhat... interesting space available at the venue.

facebook group
There's a facebook group over at

While I have started a couple of topics there, that should not dissuade people from posting/commenting here.

I'll copy the posts here in a few minutes.

website slowly coming together
The official con website is http://conjecture2009.org/ ; I'm slowly getting stuff together to go up there.

In the meantime, do please feel free to post here to ask questions or explore ideas.

For example, longlists of work that may be eligible for the Ditmars might be interesting...

not dead
Sorry for the long break between updates. We in Adelaide are in the final stages of settling our hotel contract and getting the proper web site together: there should be more news available by the weekend.

I have a sheaf of notes about programme, but please don't hesitate to post here about things you'd like investigated, proposed, planned, discussed, or rejected. I'm very excited.

I'm sorry I can't yet say anything about our guests.

Rates will be $120 until at least the end of July.

This community is for discussion of Conjecture, the 2009 Australian National Science Fiction Convention.

Please feel free to post requests, ideas, thoughts... whatever you would like to call to the organisers' attention.

The official website will be launched soon. Until then if you have any queries please don't hesitate to either comment or post here, or to email Damien Warman, but please note that I have limited internet access over the next few days.

If you are at Swancon 2008 you can join Conjecture for a reduced rate: just grab me in passing.
